Material of Laser Eye Shield
The standard material for intraocular laser eye shields is medical‑grade stainless steel. It is heat-resistant, non-melting and non-flammable, capable of fully blocking laser energy. Its smoothly polished surface prevents corneal scratches. Disposable eye shields use thin medical stainless steel
Metal intraocular corneal shields are required for treatment directly on the eyelid skin, not only for CO₂ fractional laser. They are suitable for the following laser modalities:
- Er:YAG laser (2940nm, ablative resurfacing)
- Nd:YAG 1064nm (Q-switched, long-pulsed, picosecond 1064)
- Picosecond lasers (532nm, 755nm, 1064nm) for periorbital pigment and tattoo removal
- Alexandrite laser 755nm
- Pulsed Dye Laser (PDL, 585/595nm) for vascular lesions and red scars
- Diode laser 808nm for eyelid hair removal
- Non-ablative fractional lasers (1440nm,1540nm,1927nm)
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) can also use these metal eye shields for eyelid treatment.
